This is what my dad thought about the series, "Shields finished the series with a strong performance that we all watched on Father's Day!" It was fun being at Tropicana Field.  I liked it because it was air-conditioned, and you get things like shirts and bobbleheads. Also, Sam Fuld (AKA "Super Sam") made two diving catches.

James Sheilds did get his 6th complete game of the season!  James Shields leads the major leagues in complete games this season.
That's all for today!

The Yankees crush the Indians in Late Innings

Final Score: Yankees 9, Indians 1
Place : New York, June 11, 2011 at 1pm

The Yankees swept the Indians in the game.  It was a great pitching match up.  Freddie Garcia for the Yankees vs. Josh Tomlin for the Indians. The Yankees' runs were scored by Derek Jeter (1), Eduardo Nunez (1), Curtis Granderson (2), Alex Rodriguez (1), Robinson Cano (1), and Brett Gardener (3). The Indians' run was scored by Austin Kearns (1).  There were no home runs in the game.  The play of the game was Brett Gardener's over-the-shoulder catch.  I wanted the Inidans to win this one because the Yankees are in the Rays' division.  That's all for today.

Rays @ Orioles

Tampa Bay Rays @ Baltimore Orioles, June 11, 2011 at 7pm
Baltimore, MD
Final Score: Rays 7, Orioles 5

This was a big game for both teams, especially for the Rays. They lost opening day for this same pitching match-up: David Price (99mph fastball) for the Rays vs. Jeremy Guthrie (#1 starting pitcher) for the Orioles.  Neither starting pitcher got the decision.  The winning pitcher was reliever Juan Cruz (TB).  The losing pitcher was Jeremy Accardo (BAL).  Kyle Farsworth got the save. (He lives in Celebration, FL, like me).

Tampa Bays runs were scored by Jhonny Damon (2), Ben Zobrist (4) and Evan Longoria (1).  The Orioles' runs were scored by Felix Pie (2), Mark Reynolds (4), and Chris Synder.

These are the plays of the game. BJ. Upton (TB) made an over the shoulder catch, running into the wall.  Jhonny Damon hit a double, and Ben zobrist hit a triple.  Mark Reynold's first homer....because that was WAY FAR! Just Ruggiano made a catch over the left field wall to rob J.J. Hardy of a home run. That's all for today.

Diamondbacks at Marlins

Diamond Backs @ Marlins, June 10, 2011
Miami, FL
Final Score: Marlins 6 - Diamondbacks 4

We're about to talk about the game, but first let me introduce myself. My name is Lucas, a 3rd grader in Celebration, FL.

Let's go to the game now. We'll start with the Marlins. The runs were scored by Emilio Bonofacio, Logan Morrison, Baby Sanchez, Mike Stanton, John Buck, and Omar Infante. Home runs were hit by Logan Morrison, Mike Stanton and John Buck.

I think the plays of the game were Joe Saunders doing a belly flop on the Omar Infante bunt to get him out at first, the diving catch by Emilio Bonofacio to rob Chris Young of an extra base hit, and Mike Stanton's two-run home run in the 6th.

This is what my dad thought about the game: "I thought the Marlins started the game strong with the early two-run home run."

As for the D-backs, all I have to say is the homers by Miguel Montero and Xavier Nady were far and off good pitchers. That's all for today.
